INTRODUCTION

Vista's Recovery 20/20 program follows up with clients after they leave treatment to generate independent effectiveness data.

WHAT KINDS OF INFORMATION DO WE ASK ABOUT?

Vista's Recovery 20/20 surveys gather information about a patient's emotional well-being and behaviors to measure the long-term impact of your program:

  • For patients in treatment for addiction: recent substance use
  • For patients in behavioral treatment: how they are feeling overall
  • the severity of mental health symptoms
  • impact of treatment on quality of life factors:
    • housing status
    • employment/student status
    • quality of relationships
    • involvement with the justice system
    • key health indicators

HOW DO WE REACH OUT TO PATIENTS?

We reach out to patients first by text or email and then by phone if we don't get a response after the first attempts. The messages we send patients have limited information to protect privacy; we use the assigned clinician's name (instead of your treatment center name). Here's an example:

Hi Noah! Please tell us how you’re doing and how you liked working with Rodney. Everything is confidential. The survey only takes 10 minutes & we’ll instantly send you $5 for doing it, plus another $5 if you do it in the next 24 hours.

Patients can complete the survey using the link we share via text/email or can complete the survey over the phone with one of our outcomes researchers.

Please note: We promise patients anonymity. That means that unlike our during treatment monitoring, we will not be reporting their results back to you. The results are shared in aggregate on our analytics dashboard and in your annual post-treatment report.

If a patient responds that they have been feeling poor or terrible or have reported substance use, they can ask us to send your center a message requesting that you follow up about the possibility of receiving additional treatment.

GIFT CARDS

Upon completing the survey, the patient will be sent an e-gift card via text or email (their preference). The patient may also elect to have a gift card mailed. We distribute Target or Starbucks gift cards. The gift card amounts range from $5 to $20; the amount increases with each survey interval. Patients receive an additional $5 when they complete the survey within 24 hours of the first contact.

**As of February 15, 2024, gift card rates will increase from $10 to $25. Patients will still receive an additional $5 when they complete the survey within 24 hours of the first contact.

RESPONSE RATE

Our response rate is around 50% on average across all of our centers at one month post-treatment. The following blog post discusses the factors that contribute to a good response rate: Achieving High Post-Treatment Response Rates
