Transferring patients: to new programs or counselors

INSIGHT allows patients to be transferred to different programs within the same center (e.g. from residential to IOP) and to different counselors. Users that are "managers" or “super managers” are able to make the changes.

Transferring patients to a different program

First, make sure that you have the appropriate program set up in INSIGHT. To set up a program, click on "Program Summaries" in the left side navigation bar and click on the "Add Program" button in the upper right corner of the page. Visit Creating programs in INSIGHT for more information on creating programs. 

Once you have your programs set up appropriately, you can transfer patients to different programs. 

• Click on "Patients" in the left side navigation bar.

• Once you find the patient you would like to move to a different program or counselor, click on the 3 blue dots on the right side of their entry and a new menu will appear. Select "transfer". 

• To change the program find the drop-down menu underneath the  "Program" heading. Select the new program from the drop-down. 

• Select the date the patient was transferred to the program and then hit submit. 

Transferring patients to a different counselor

To transfer a patient to a different counselor, follow the same steps used for transferring a patient to a different program, by selecting the patient and then "transfer".

• You will then find the drop-down menu under "counselor" and select the new counselor from the list. 

• Select the date the patient was transferred to the Counselor and then hit "Submit."

Please note: You do not need to discharge the patient to transfer them to a different program or counselor.
