Patient Alert Notifications (Flags)

Alert notifications are designed to let clinicians know when a patient is reporting serious symptoms or behaviors.

When Notify of Patient Reporting Suicidal Thoughts & Possible Intention to Act During the Previous 30 Days at Intake

Intake Critical Alert (two white flags) indicates a patient reported one or more of the following on their intake survey (30 days before starting treatment):

  • intention to act on suicidal thoughts (a score of 4 or higher on the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (CSSRS)
  • experiencing seizures as a symptom of detoxification

When Notify of Patient Reporting Suicidal Thoughts & Possible Intention to Act During Treatment

Critical Alert (two red flags) indicates a patient reported one or more of the following on their most recent update survey:

  • intention to act on suicidal thoughts (a score of 4 or higher on the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (CSSRS)
  • experiencing seizures as a symptom of detoxification

When Notify of Patient Reporting Other Dangerous Thoughts & Behaviors at Intake or During Treatment

Intake Alert (one white flag) indicates a patient reported one or more of the following on their intake survey (30 days before starting treatment):

  • suicidal ideation (with no intention to act)
  • self-harming behavior

Alert (one red flag) indicates a patient reported one or more of the following on their most recent update survey:

  • suicidal ideation (with no intention to act)
  • self-harming behavior
  • use of substances

Users can set email or text alerts to be sent immediately, within three hours, or once per day, based on the type of alert produced by a patient's survey. To learn how to change your notification settings, visit: Update Notification Settings
