Enter/Update Contact Information and Update Notification Preferences

INSIGHT will automatically send notifications via email or text message to counselors when their assigned patients' complete surveys. Managers can also receive notifications if they wish. The alert functions provide some flexibility in the timing and frequency that notifications are sent. To receive notifications, treatment center staff need to maintain updated contact information and set their notifications. 

Entering or Updating Contact Information


To enter or update your contact info, click on the "Settings" icon located in the left side menu bar. The "Settings" icon looks like a gear. 

On the settings page, you can enter or update your email address and cell phone number. You can also select how you would like to receive your notifications, either via email or text message.

Next, set your notification timing preferences. There are three different categories of notifications:

  • Critical Alert (two flags) indicates a patient reported have the intention to act on a suicide plan in their most recent survey. In INSIGHT Detox, a critical alert indicates that the patient has reported seizures as a symptom. 
  • Alert (one flag) indicates that the patient reported some suicidal ideation (with no intention to act), reports using drugs or alcohol, and/or self-harming behavior in their most recent report.
  • Non-Alert  indicates that the patient did not report suicidal thoughts, self-harming behavior, or use of drugs or alcohol is their most recent report.

If you are a counselor or manager receiving alerts, we recommend setting "critical alerts" to be sent immediately. Set the rest of the alert periods as desired. Please note: all times reflect the Eastern U.S. time zone and are in a 24-hour format. 

When you have completed your edits, press submit.

Notification Settings for Managers

Staff with manager access to the software have a couple more options for notifications. Managers can: 

  • specify notification settings for each program
  • change the notification settings of other staff members

Specify Notification Settings by Program

Managers who have access to data from multiple programs in INSIGHT can decide which programs they want to receive patient alerts.To change your own settings:

1. Click on the setting icon (the gear) on the left side toolbar.

2. On the top of the page, you should see a table that shows all of the programs visible to you. Under the heading "receive alerts" use the drop-down to select your preference. 

Changing Notification Settings for Other Staff

1. Select the "managers and staff" icon (a computer) from the left side toolbar.

2. Select the staff member you'd like to change (you can search for staff using the search box in the upper left corner). Click on the three dots next to the staff member's name and select "edit." 

3 On the top of the page, you should see a table that shows all of the programs visible to you. Under the heading "receive alerts" use the drop-down to select the appropriate preferences.
